Why Our Pool Is Heated to 32°C (And Why It Matters)

Walk into Swimmable at Gardens Centre and the first thing parents notice is the warmth. Our pool is heated to a constant 32°C, and that is not an accident. It is one of the most important decisions a swim school can make.

Warm water helps children learn

A child who is cold cannot concentrate. Cold water triggers tension in the body: muscles tighten, breathing gets shallow, and every bit of the child’s attention goes into coping rather than learning. At 32°C, little bodies stay relaxed, so lessons are spent building skills instead of shivering.

For babies especially, warm water matters. It keeps the experience close to what they know from the bath, which means calmer, happier first lessons and faster progress.

Hypo-allergenic water, gentle on skin and eyes

Temperature is only half the story. Our pool uses an ozone filtration system with salt chlorination, which produces hypo-allergenic water. In practice that means no chlorine rashes and no red eyes, something parents of sensitive-skinned children notice immediately. We also operate to European health and safety standards.

A purpose-built learning pool

The pool itself was designed specifically for teaching: 8 by 4.5 metres, 1.2 metres deep throughout, with a step along one side. Every swimmer can stand, every teacher can reach every child, and there are no cold corners or sudden deep ends.
